RE: your comment on my blog
Dude, Duncan Fegredo rocks the shit out of Hellboy. It's very hard to look forward to anyone else drawing this comic, but I am more than satisfied.
Fegredo is a technically better artist than Mignola. However, mignola's style is what makes him so great. Notice I am talking style vs. technical skill. For this, Fegredo applies Mike's rendering style to his own art, so it still looks exactly like Hellboy should, but with more backgrounds, better perspective, more detail. I can't believe how fucking good it is.
I was just about to scan you some pages, but I couldn't close the scanner cover without janking up my copy. sorry. Anyways, I was blown the fuck away.
City of Others was slightly disappointing, in my opinion, but I liked it enough to read on for a few more issues.
It is not Bernie's best work, and plus they've unfortunately decided to go with the no-inker approach, just pencils and color. I don't always hate this technique, but Wrightson's art is definitely weakened without the sharp, heavy black. On the plus side, the colorist is using a custom palette based very closely on Wrightson's fully painted works, and it looks dead-on.
Story-wise, nothing really happened in issue one, but I was encouraged by the editor's remarks in the back that specifically said this would be a slowly-unfolding story, and that they wouldn't touch on the core of it for quite some time. I am also a Niles fan, but he is more here to give Bernie's story a script that reads well.
I got #2 this week and haven't read it, I'll let you know how it goes. Don't think I hated it, I am just being a harsh critic because it didn't quite meet my expectations. I want to love it, though, so I remain optimistic!

Seven new comics read, but they are probably old news to most regular comic readers, and well, there isn't much I can do about that, as I get my comics at the beginning of the following months of release, all my books in one big package. Right now I will just add two. I am considering just doing one comic issue and one trade or...

I read DMZ for a while but couldn't get into it as much. I just love meagen, she's awesome.

I read a few trade paper backs over the past few months, and so I will write about a few of them here, or try to at least.

My boy has beentrying to get me to read it forever... I've always wanted to read it but my reading list is 10 miles long so I didn't get around to it for awhile.
One night in bed I started reading over his shoulder and that was that. I'm totally blown away by the quality of this book.
I am de ja vu -ing right now so bad. Ermm.

Dude, thanks for reading. I am really enjoying DMZ and I guess I'm glad to hear that there's more coming, but it did really seem like it would have been a good ending. Also, I was suspicious because Brian Wood has never done an ongoing series that I know of.
Pirates looks pretty rockin, my girlfriend is way into it and she has all the issues so I can easily check it out without spending any dough. Great feature you've done here what with all the images and links. Keep it up!
Also, the latest issue of Previews solicited a new series written and drawn by Lolos. I forgot the title but if you haven't heard of this I'll look into it.

I saw you and Jack_G and a few others on the comics Group...
I LOVE PIRATES OF CONEY ISLAND. I was tempted to collect both covers but then I went with CoverA everytime because (deep breath before embarassing myself) I wanted the cover art to be consistant with the interiors for the entire collection. (Exhale)
So thinking along the lines of things like Pirates of the Coney Island, what else would you reccomend?
Thanks for mentioning this underappriciated but toatlly awsome comic!
EDIT: SO they did both of their webpages in identical formatting with different images?

Allo,
Lately I have been listening to a lot of the Baltimore Club sound, also known as Bmore. I am not sure what causes my constant shifts in musical tastes, but it happens often and without warning. Not too long before this recent Bmore phase of performers like Curtis Vodka, Emynd & Bo Bliz and Bonde do Role, I was really into crust and seeking...

Y the Last Man comes to an end in only seven issues and to seemingly draw out the long awaited conclusion, Brian K Vaughn and Vertigo are switching the books last issues to a bi monthly format. This makes me happy financially as it saves me a few bucks for the next few months, but also makes me a little angry that now it will...

I love British comedey. I love British comedy shows. I love British comedy films. I love how I can tie one of my favortie British comedy horror films, Shaun of the Dead, to most of my favortie British comedey shows. Shaun of the Dead can easily be connected to: Spaced (obviously, it was a pre cursor to Shaun), Black Books, Green Wing, Love Soup, Hardware,...

Allo,
Coming to the end of another year. December is always a bad month as many people generally pass away during this month and three folks that I knew have done just that. On the bright side however, there are many distraction during this month to help get me by.

Allo,
This entry is just to put up a few links related to good instrumental hip hop.
First up is a link to a short quicktime promo video for Blockhead's new album.
His first solo release last year is pretty much considered a modern classic for the still young genre of instrumental hip hop. This new album sounds good.
The video is kind of an...
