Allo.

In the past few days we had a major warm up and spent three days in the 40's, people were in t-shirts, a few even in shorts, it was a glorious thing. Even our 8 and 10 foot snow banks started to disappear, but of course, now we're expected to drop in temperature again and a fresh new coating of 10 to 12 inches of snow is on the way for Sunday. Normally I don't mind winter at all, it makes everyone else as gloomy as me but since my surgeries, I am really anxious to get out on my bike and work my legs out and well that is difficult in snow.

I read the first two Bunny Suicide books yesterday. They were cute and fun. Here is one of my favorites because it makes me think of my LOTR obsessed friend Drew.

and also this one because I hate Nazis.

This one just made me think of Frank Kozik. I wonder if when he created Labbits if he intended to become synonymous with rabbits forever after?

Less pleasant, my sisters treatments have stopped working. They have only marginally slowed down the progress of existing tumors and growth of new tumors. Back when my father got sick, we quickly learned that often with cancer that if the disease doesn't kill you the treatments do. Kim is miserable and she is too tired to ever be able to be a mom to her kids. I usually end up watching them or having to step in for her. So, she has decided to quit treatments and hope for a better quality of life for her daughters. The kids do ok with it, but you can't expect too much from a 7 and 8 year old. To give an example though, one of the days my sister was so run down and just dead tired, my nieces were unable to wake her up and thought she actually was dead. This did no go over well with anyone involved obviously. We are looking into home hospice care, that doesn't mean she will die overnight or anything like that, but that she isn't treating the cancer anymore so much as the symptoms. Also the hospice program allows for social worker and grief care for her kids, daily visits if she needs help with the girls and doing chores, and things of similar difficulty to her.

Obviously I am not happy about the idea of my sister probably dying sooner, but I do think is the best choice for her mentally in trying to provide the girls with good memories of her. Also, so little is known about her cancer because it is so rare that nobody can give us a real idea of expected time. She is young and that helps, she had a stronger body from the start.

Other than that, I have just been a moody bitch lately. Or because of that. I am not really sure. I just seem to be making everyone mad at me.

I am going to go and hide away in a book, video game, movie or something else of the sort for distraction now.

Cheers folks.

_smurfzilla_:
the bunny books are hilarious.
sorry to hear about your sister. >_<
and yeah.. the treatments are terrible.. basically they play a game to see if it kills the cancer faster than the rest of your body.
i dont know if it would be something she would go for but marijuana helps a lot. from watching people im close to go through cancer battles it really seemed to help them feel better.. and they were there.. as opposed to when they were on the pile of painkillers. >_<
good luck hun. hang in there.
