I read a few trade paper backs over the past few months, and so I will write about a few of them here, or try to at least.

Cheat (Oni Press) art and story by Christine Norrie
I knew of Christine Norrie from her art work on Hopeless Savages, another incredible book from Oni, and I rather enjoyed her style of art that was very stylized and I would almost call it an indie style. This was a very short original story, seventy two pages, that she both wrote and penciled. The story is that of two couples who are friends, and one couple manages to get the others an apartment in the same building, from there two significant others from the two seperate relationships start to spend more and more time together and things go to far. This is a great story about relationships and there problems and is just a simple read that is very much like true life.

Serenity: Those Left Behind (Dark Horse Comics) art by Will Conrad and story by Joss Whedon, Brett Matthews
I am sure most people who were Firelfy, Serenity, or just Whedon fans have already read this, but I cam late to that particular game, only seeing Serentiy once it was out on dvd and not really falling in love with until a second viewing months later. I have since watched it countless times, seen the entiree Firefly series and come to love Nathan Fillian and his crew and also enjoy Whedon's dialogue. This book was pretty much and extension of the show brigdeing into the film. The dialogue for the most part is spot on (right down to the made up swear words), and the art again for the most part does everyone justice ( a few frames make the charcters appear to have down syndrome). Story wise, I believe that it is perfect for fans of all those listed above as it so very much like them.

Zero Girl (Homage Comics) art and story by Sam Keith
First of all, let me say how wonderful I find Sam Keith's imagination and ability to manifest it so well into words and art. That said, this is again something incredibly unique from the recess' of his mind. Here you get his crazy views of people and their odd shaped anatomy and they also have is usual flare for dress style. This is a book about a young girl who is all alone in life and is made of fun of at school for the fact that her feetleave puddles when she gets scared or excited. She aslo believes that circles are her friends and squares are trying to kill her. A guidance counselor finds it all very fascinating and takes her as a personal project. Thinsg get way out of hand and very twisted when we learn how right this young girl is and how the liquid she secretes is far from ordinary. A wonderful book that is highly recommended as is any of Keith's own work.

That is all for now, I hope to add
Doom Patrol Vol. 1-5, Animal Vol. 1, Hellboy Animated: The Black Wedding, The Messengers, Death: At Death's Door, The Furies, Zombie, The Filth, Rose, and Arkham Asylum: Living Hell soon.
