i'm here to tell you all that comedy albums are coming back in a big way. and i'm not talking about wacky song parodies that you used to hear in junior high on the dr. demento show, or comedy for intelectuals like tom leher. i'm talking about seriously funny stuff. it all started a little over a year ago when sub pop released david cross' "shut up, you fucking baby!" you know when a label as cool as sub pop puts out a comedy record, and now a dvd...comedy is coming back in style. and let's face it...with the condition that our nation is in right now we need to laugh. and gallagher sure as hell isn't going to be the one to tickle our funny bone. we want irreverence, we want the f word, we want cynisism. the recent rise in popularity of various comedy television programs like the dave chappell show and dave attell (why are all of these people named david???) who's got a comedy CD out now called "skanks for the memories" only drives my point home. i also can't forget to mention mitch hedberg, bobcat goldthwait, and the incomperable genius mr. lewis black. it's comedy we want, it's comedy we demand...and i'm telling you all, it's back! prepare to be amused!!

I have no doubt that there are many fine comedy albums coming out that I have been ignoring, but I'm just incapable of consuming them along with all the other entertainments I acquire at too fast a rate.
And I've gotta agree: Audrey was fine in '54.
and check out bobcat goldthwait's "I Don't Mean To Insult You But You Look Like Bobcat Goldthwait"... it will make you pee your pants!
