about ten years ago, i got this amazing "art" book called Director's Cut. it features tons and tons of photographs taken of a television screen. there are still images of men and women, famous people and non-famous people; images of drug use and of buttholes. but what really makes this book something special is that all of the photographs were taken by John Waters. really good stuff. i recommend it.
so, i was researching some movies on the internet last night and i ran across a website that reminded me of this book...in the book there are several pages that have photos of the title screen of various films. most of them in the book aren't actually very interesting, but this website has hundreds of screen shots from the title screen in ALMOST every film i can think of. i've been so fascinated with typography for the past year, and i started noticing that there are some films that use a combination of type or font with an image that is often really effective in setting up the mood of the film.
i know, i'm just being a movie geek and you probably won't read all of this anyway, but if this sounds interesting to you at all...check out the website. let me know what some of your favorite title screens are.
