Just checking in. Life is acceptable these days...
I'm working at a major Boston rock club 4 nights a week, playing there with my trio 2 nights a month, paying my rent and living in my cool little room in Somerville, 10 min. out of Boston. A pretty nice existence.
I am however, having NYC withdrawal symptoms. I've always been a city boy and with that, a fan of the 'street' at night. You really can't get that electricity anywhere else like NYC when it comes to that. It's so funny- I can be doing fine wherever I'm living, but I'll still long for a place just because it has an element of electricity at nighttime. What kind of logic is that? Stable living, progress in my artform (and in that matter, it's my life) and some good organization.. then I put my head to pillow at bedtime and think of how much I miss walking up 6th. avenue at 3 in the morning. Wtf.
Manray closes fri. night. I'll probably go to see all my friends there. What a great club. Since I'm on the 'scene', I have the inside track on their re-location.. but don't ask; my lips are sealed..
