That was one helluva weekend.

We drove down Friday afternoon and the drinks were flowing heavy with surf music before sundown. In all honestly, the trip could have gone sour from a few small "issues" and we did learn a few noob lessons, but the fun over shadowed any short comings by a long shot.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
One of my favorite finds of the weekend was this T-shirt company by the name of Vintage Roadside. Which, had really cool T's with original designs/advertising from actual Mom & Pop businesses from the 30s - 60s that I really dug.

I am still pretty new to the scene, but the amount of vendors here was pretty mind blowing compared to what I experienced at Hukilau back in June. Hand carvings, glass ware, clothing, paintings, mugs, pretty much anything Tiki and it was there.

HUGE line up of bands that played through out the day and well into the night and even into the hotel rooms, which was pretty awesome to witness.

I think the highlight of the trip for me had to be the rum symposium.

We got to sample and a brief history on 8 different styles of rum. I learned things such as: the different grades of rum and when a cocktail recipe calls for Bacardi rum -- by law you have to use Bacardi rum. Really, its true.

The best part of the class was at the end, when we got to take what we learned and make our very own signature rum drink. THIS is the sound of 200 signature cocktails being mixed at the same time.

I had a lot of fun, laughed a ton, but think I can do it even bigger next year!

biggrin
