Dreams about boys and Bengal kittens, rat traps of memories and that singular shade of violet that haunts me like a poorly buried victim.

I found a ring that color once. It was horribly overpriced. In retrospect, I shouldv'e bought it anyway. At the time, though, I thought I would see that shade more often, and in more places. As it turns out, I've seen it in only two. Or three. Depending on how you count it.

My hindsight is clearer than usual these past weeks.

But I wonder what I am trying to tell myself today.
