I'm going to the WInter ntniques show at the Park avenue armory (66th and Park, NYC). That will be my major entertainment for this weekend. Plus I am reading "Gangs of New York," a book I have owned for a few years but apparntly not read. I was surprised that it was written in 1927. It's much more of a social History than the recent movie. It seems that all of the characters in the movie are described variously through the book, but that the basic movie plot borrows from a lot of incidents from the book. He frequently writes about "harpies and hell-cats and murderous women, especially during the draft riots in New York during the civil war.

but the bible won't say 'the earth will end on tuesday'. the example i gave was just werds arising from patterns that don't necessarily make any sense, they happen to be relevant to our history, however, if it were in the future, and we had not yet experienced it, it wouldn't mean anything to us. i don't understand what it is they'd be looking for.
