I have this t-shirt that I love. it has an amazing image on it of a woman praying. the woman is also a vulva.

I just did a search and found a picture of a tattoo of the same image! squee!


my sister at one point hid this shirt from me because she thought it was so offensive. she also hid my "this uterus belongs to me" shirt. (shakes fist)

our bodies are not offensive. they are what they are. and, of course, that is a statement that means nothing.

pornography for the sake of pornography is something that we should be careful about. a person needs to fully understand the implications and intentions before exposure to material with sexual content, just as a person needs to fully understand that actions we take as human beings, in fact, have consequences. it's easy to group sex with subversive behavior because that's where consequences are most likely to happen, in my opinion, but I guess it's just a lot easier not to talk about how you can get hit by a car even if you are in the crosswalk AND look both ways or the house can burn down even if everyone did everything right. no real life lessons there, right?

but I digress.

when we get out of the shower and look in the mirror, we're not being naughty. we're not meant for mature audiences. we are in our natural state, as god made us, the beautiful beings we have come to be-- whatever suits you.

what we see, as we look at ourselves, contains elements of awesome perfection and frightening inadequacy. we are serious and silly. we are made for function and we are made for pleasure. it is all there, all at once.

if we go in any one direction too far, we fail ourselves. we are neither hedons nor slaves, neither clowns nor drones. we are not gods to ourselves, and we have nothing so fallible that we need hate it.
