oh, just a reminder, it's based on this pattern.

the bag that I'm making will consist of four panels like that one. I'm actually not following the pattern exactly, and instead of doing a garter stitch I'm doing a stockinette stitch (which is why it's rolling up around the edges- something I need to take care of later but it's worth it because I want the fabric to look a certain way). (and yes, I know that I have to do two of the panels backwards because I won't be able to just randomly flip them around)

I'm also planning on adding a pocket, because I have my secret stuff that requires a tiny pocket on the inside of the purse. so I need a really fun, funky button.

and I plan on stitching the panels together with either bright yellow or orange ribbon. to keep my secret pocket secret, I'll have to stitch it on with something that isn't high-contrast, but I'll do stitching around the edges before I sew it in so that it looks like it has contrast stitching.

neat-o!

That's a BEAUTIFUL bag. love I always envy people who are creative with things like knitting or sewing or cross-stitch. My mom and grandma tried to teach me to knit and crochet years ago (actually, they tried and tried and TRIED repeatedly) but finally my grandma pronounced me as too impatient and gave up. whatever My mom, on the other hand, was far sweeter and just said that God just gave me a different set of gifts and skills and not to feel bad about the handwork kind of stuff. It wasn't until years later that I realized she was talking about my skills as a musician. Guess mom handles the "visual" art and I get to handle the "auditory" art.

Knitting is all the rage again, isn't it? One of my best friends is a middle school teacher and he says they have two knitting clubs that are HUGE!! That's so cool, if you ask me. biggrin
