Congratulations to me! Its been eight months since Ive had my patent foramen ovale (PFO)repaired.

Ive been dealing a lot with the emotional implications of living my entire life (you know, up until about a year ago) not knowing that I had something terribly wrong with me when, in fact, I did. I made one impressive emotional breakthrough in that I feed myself a lot of negative energy, and Im working on breaking that cycle. I also switched anti-depressants. Im now taking Cymbalta, which is good, I think. I had taken Welbutrin XL for a while, which worked amazingly well except that it caused tremors. Cymbalta is supposed to be a good mix because it wont upset all the seizure stuff in my brain, but it does have some of the same chemical properties that helped me feel better.

Go me.

I got a new job, which is great, because my old job was causing a lot of unnecessary stress and unhappiness. However, changing health insurance has been quite exciting. I did have to COBRA a month (I may have to COBRA two), but Ive spent a lot of time on the phone and internet trying to figure out exactly what and how much my new insurance is going to cover. The little sign up pamphlet I got said that my prescription coverage would save me up to 20% on medication, which really freaked me out, because I thought that it meant the insurance company was only going to pay 20% of my medication costs (!!!), but no, they are actually quite normal and pay 70%. I do have a $100 deductible, though. Boo.

Am I boring you yet?

Lets talk about body mods!

I think Im far enough out from having been on Plavix that I can start re-establishing my piercings. I miss my conch the most. Im also quite curious if it would be okay to get tattoos while on aspirin therapy, seeing as Ill be taking aspiring for, oh, the rest of my life.

I want to get a tattoo that is a quote from House of Leaves. The quote itself is in Latin and it has some beautiful theological implications. It has three footnotes (which I would want tattooed as well), one of which is a loose translation that I like very much. I want to get it on my left ribcage. I like hidden tattoos. They are like special secrets. It would also be close to my heart.

Once I get a new copy of the book, I will make a scan of the quote and post it. I gave both of my copies away, though I have a tendency to do that with books, which is both good and bad. I like to share books that mean a lot to me because I hope that other people then read them and enjoy them, but at the same time, if I want to grab the book and look at it, I dont have it.

Im not sure how expensive it is going to be for me to get my whole deductible and upfront prescription cost thing settled, but as soon as Im able, I want to get this tattoo.

Tangent: This past week, I fell down the stairs (a total klutz move on my part), and I bumped and bruised myself up on both the outside and inside. One of the nurses who was treating me in the emergency room at one point told me to take ibuprofen and to stay away from aspirin products. I told him that I was completely incredulous of his assessment, because IM ON ASPIRIN THERAPY BECAUSE OF MY PFO REPAIR. At my job, Im expected to know whats going on with the customers. Why cant it be the same for healthcare professionals?

Oh, Ive also decided that for my anniversary, Im going to bake a cake and make it into the shape of a heart have a celebration. Im really going to make a big deal of it. There have been other things in my life that Ive been too quiet about, but this is one issue that I dont want to be quiet about. My heart was broken, and now it is better.

Congratulations on everything and welcome to SG! Glad to hear that you're doing well in both mind and body after your operation. You've great taste in music, particularly Belle and Sebastian (whom I was lucky enough to see the other night!) smile

P.S. The "cupcakes" set is one of the most beautiful and sexy sets I've ever seen anywhere on SG, period. I hope you become and SG!
