Since it's been a while since I've started lurking around this website, I think it's time for me to return the favor and say something about myself.
"Why the hell should I care?" you may ask. I don't know, but I'm not the one reading something just for the sake of it.
As you might deduce from my profile pic, I'm a fire dancer.
It's a passion I've always kinda had, but I've started practicing it in 2010, when my academic studies got stuck for the umpteenth time: I thought I needed a break, to nurture a part of my mind I was neglecting since too long; so I found a gym in my area where jugglers used to train, took my heart two-handed, and got there.
There I found a guy who was practicing with a prop I saw very few times before then, the fire staff.
I got curious, so I approached him and asked if he might teach me something. He did, and he was so passionate about that I spontaneously fell in love with the practice, learned the basics very fast and started my personal research with the prop in a few weeks. A couple months later I ran into a guy who was practicing with another prop (pois) but he was a beginner too so we started practicing together daily, at first, and searching for gigs together, then.
Once started to exhibit, I noticed how the mere technical use of the staff wasn't enough for making a good show, I needed to enhance my movements, to stop hiding behind the fire and start dancing with it.
That was the beginning of another kind of research, an harder and more profound one: the search for myself.
