I did something this morning that I never thought I'd have enough will power to do. I cut my debit card into tiny unuseable pieces. I have proven that I have a hard time controlling my spending when its so easy to swipe that plastic. So I cannot have one right now. I'm going cash only. Or checks, but I really hate writing checks so it will prolly be cash
Now I have to decide if I want to cut up my credit cards or hand them over to my parents to hold onto for true emergencies. I think I may cut up the big one and hand the little one over to my Mom. I'm not cancelling anything, that will just make my credit issues worse at this point. Oh and I'm definately cutting up the best buy one. I have gotten tempted several times to go buy a new laptop with it. I still have a balance I am struggling to pay off because of their insane interest and bullshit debt cancellation fees. They rip you right the fuck off.
Scary but liberating. Plastic has allowed me to thoughtlessly blow so much of my very hard earned cash. Let's see how this new method works. Wish me luck!

Oh and I've gained 4 pounds over the last week and a half! Only 21 more pounds to go!
UPDATE
You are all so awesome for being so encouraging!
I wanted to let you know that I just finished cutting up my Best Buy card and the biiiiiig credit card. All I will have left accessable to me is the small credit card that has a $900 limit. And I will be putting that in a secure place where I will not be able to easily use it.
This really does feel liberating. I look forward to seeing how my spending habits change.

I have my cards put away. I only have my check card, which is the same as using what cash I have, and I've been good only using it for groceries or gasoline.
It's a great feeling to see no new charges on a card, and the balance you owe dropping, despite crazy financing fees.
And as I said to you yesterday, I'm really proud of your exercise habits and you turning some of that veal into muscle.
love you babe!!
