I was enjoying the effects of an old art school concoction of coffee and coke, which, with the proper creamer (preferably Fr. vanilla) ain't too bad... especially for working through the night. When I stopped by a friend's blog, she had made mention of chairs--they were special chairs. It got me thinking... which usually means trouble--and that starts with "T"and... [Trouble in River City?...anyone... (crickets...

Ha! We have a few pretty key Giacometti pieces here in Houston in the sculpture gardens near the Museum of fine Arts here, within the museum itself, and within the Menil Collection, one of the more significant 20th century private collections. I've never had the audacity to sit on any of them. wink It's always cool when someone has known artists in their own collections. I've been lucky enough to find myself in the presence of some, most recently here just hanging out having a coffee chat in the hallway as we stared a three very crucial works by two related artists. One of which was shortly dispatched thereafter for auction at Sotheby's where it fetched the highest price to date of a work in it's category. She kept the two best for herself though....and has an extensive personal collection. Stuff strewn everywhere.

I can't afford that sort of thing but do like to support local artists or galleries and have made a couple of wise selections, mainly though I get what makes me happy and falls within my budget at the time. I have been known to forgo practical things to acquire a painting. Even food. Bad thing is, I have a tendency to gift my guys with artworks or acquire pieces when involved with someone which they become attached to...so often a break up means my collection gets busted up too. tongue

Love your stories!!!

Must rule to have an ass that gravitates toward Giacometti.....

In the vacuum in time created by the schedule of the weekend, and days leading up to it, things are less than peachy out there, which makes spouting off the details of my own escapades to be trivial. I see that some of the folks that I've come to know on here are troubled, by both, old demons, and some new gremlins. I hope to...

I'm trying t keep busy in the studio actually working, though there is a lot of planning to do... and fucking time constraints that don't help. I have begun to find a few willing subjects or upcoming work, and they are more about the individuality and attitude that was more pervasive in SG before they hit 500 girls. Now, convention is rapidly replacing that initial...

Very nice !

and yeah, seems the really outstanding sets are fewer and fewer. Meh.
I really miss a particular un-nameable photographer around here. Still see his work elsewhere, but it was nice to have his contribution here.

Love it! Now I'm inspired....I know what I'm doing this weekend now!

And I knew if ANYONE would get my post on balance and how important it was, it would be you.

As I'd threatened yesterday, I'm hanging a sketch here for the usual suspects who might pass by to review. I was just approached to participate in a show at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts. The big joke there is that none of us are members, associate members, or have any official affiliations at all, That is why we're referred to as renegade, or...

Since the funeral for Don, I've tried to stay immersed in my work. I want to do another series, not unlike the four "heads"--three of which sold, s did the girl in the red dress which followed. With the consent of the lovely VictoriaRose, an adorable, young hopeful, I think it's one good reference to draw from. I have one drawing which is worth posting....

Today began a two day plein air painting event around town, though most participants were along the river walk or parks. These South Jersey artists are so fuckin' anal with their landscape painting it's ridiculous. If I were a musician, and know many, there would be no sense in doing endless variations of the same song indefinitely. It would seem to me that the target...
