I know the feeling. Literally every friend I have lives far away, often in different countries, continents... but I feel like some friendships are based on going down the same path for different reasons, and others are more about going down different paths for the same reasons. I don't know what kind yours are, but I find that when it's the latter, you can be apart for years, decades even, and still come together without feeling an interruption in the friendship. Whichever this was, good that you managed to craft this moment. There's always only a certain number of times you get to see anyone, even if you see them every day.

I'm always a bit indifferent to the idea of new year's resolutions even in a good year 😅 and lord knows the last couple of years have had their share of curveballs...Still, there's something nice about having an arbitrary check-in point for where you're at with life goals etc.
