i'm a bumming dude this weekend, there have been rumors flying since July that Fobia has been having trouble, Tucker started manageing the uptown Urban Outfitters, and Pete has started playing the Rep game for Rome Snowboards, those guy have been the main manageing force at Fobia for about 5 years now, but you can't blame the guys for takeing jobs that pay more, being king shits of the badest skate shops in the area is a cool job and all, you just can't turn down good pay, so i disway those rumors. well i call Mevin HQ to talk to them about proforming an Alter Genetics 159 fully expecting to get it shipped to the maplewood Fobia, the Mervin rep says Fobia doesn't have a credit with them this year (snowboards are like cars, due to the price they are shipped to dealers on credit, if they don't sell them by a certain date they pay intrest on it) so he tells me to go talk to the guys at Cal Surf, so it hits me, Fobia carried Gnu and Libtech for like 8 years (Mervin MFG) and they are not getting any this year? all the guys it the shop they don't know, just me bering the weight, knowing that your shop is going away i just got this sinking feeling. you guy don't even know how big this shop got, the last skateboard video permire for Joy and Pain they held at First Ave, and the line was thick down both blocks, Atmosphere and Dillanger Four playing for a video, 2000+ people, i managed to loose my ID, but came rollin up to the front and there was Clint Peterson and Steve Nesser rollin up and down the block shooting all the people, Pete finds me we snag Tucker and make our way into the VIP lounge and started drinking, Garret was there (my tattoo artist and the owner of Foiba and Pete and just about anybody else who worked there). FUCK, how am i supose to go to Cal Surf tomorrow any convince the owner that they need to get me a board shipped, those guys are dicks, any time i run into one of there skaters at a spot or a bar they make it out like it's supose to be a turf war of skate shops, FUCK i don't wanna do this

fuck it's easier breaking up with a girlfriend than losing your skate shop

sounds like fun mpls shit as usual. but im never gonna quit givin ya shit for stayin in that flat state and "riding." i still cant see any reason for stayin there if you are so serious about snowboarding. it will always blow my mind why dudes stick around minnesota if they indeed love and pursue this wonderful art. yea fobia is a killer skate shop, but it will never raise those pathetic hills into mountains with big, real snow. i love the boys at fobia too and hang out wit em whenever im back in town. the guys at cal surf are cool too, though. they hit up utah and montana every year. they carry neversummer, which with their thick ptex sidewalls are some of the better handmade boards out there. man, youd be suprised how different the shops are out here, especially salt lake. milo and salty peaks. world boards in bozeman. come see for yourself. i dare you to come to the mountains this year. ill even buy your first lift ticket.
