Love Life
The other day I was talking with an 84 year old woman whose husband has been dead for 15 years. He was hit by a car while they were on vacation.
We were chatting when she said, "I want to tell you something I've never told anyone in my family"
She told me that she thought her husband was going to leave her after they returned from their vacation. Something along the lines of stumbling upon a bank account he had opened and placed a few hundred dollars in.
She told me after her husband had been hit by "the car" she went to the hospital. That first night he was in a coma and she had asked him if he could hear her, and told him to squeeze her hand if he could.
He did. She told him that she knew he was going to leave and that she knew he was sorry and said "I forgive you for it".
She told me that he had cried blood and that tears of blood had streamed from his eyes and she knew he was trying to ask her forgiveness.
Her take on the incident was that her husband had planned to leave her and was doing her wrong and "God lashed him down for his wickedness."

Shitty vacation, either way. 15 years of surviving a life partner might send me a little 'round the bend into the land of revengeful deities, too. Jealous, griefstruck people "know" a lot of longshot unlikely stuff. What if he were saving up in that secret account for a gift for her?
