V-Day. Here it is. What is supposed to be a celebration of love is usually a line drawn in the sand. So many relationships crumble before this ominous date stamps the word love on a couple's forehead. Last year the girl I was dating turned cold as Valentine crept up with its bondage.
My favorite Valentine story is the time my girlfriends apartment went up in flames. I had only a half hour to spend with her after my shift at work and before my gig. I had picked out a fabulous Merlot and she had found me this beautiful Banzai tree that was covered in tiny white flowers.
And then she left the house with the candles burning. The next day she brought me the charred remains of my Banzai tree.
