An 18-year-old German schoolboy who was buckling under the pressure of examinations stabbed himself to death with a bread knife in front of his classmates.
I can't imagine the kind of "pressure" that would cause a young person to do such a thing to themselves. Then again - maybe I can - "The latest international surveys show that Germany had fewer school-leavers progressing to higher education than any other country in the world barring only Mexico and the Czech Republic." I think the environment "created" around someone can cause them to start thinking in all sorts of different ways - whether they are bizarre concepts of reality or not.
One wonders whether he might not have truly intended to die, but thought that this was a "safe" enough way to get attention - which then backfired as he bled to death.
