I work in mall retail. For a skate shop chain. It's a good job. It treats me well and I'd like to think I'm good at it. I've worked there longer than I have any place prior, and will continue to do so for as long as I can.

The reason I like my job so much is because of the people I get to meet on a daily basis. I make it my goal to talk to everyone that comes in my store and to learn something about them. It's something I learned from my friend, Bike shop Mark, and it's very important to me.

One of my favorite customers was a young girl named Sydni. She just turned 18 last month. I remember when I first met her she was wearing wearing aviators and a ballin' pair of bright yellow dunks. I'm not much of a shoe guy, but they were quite impressive. Over the past several months we've developed a friendly relationship and she'd always drop by my store to say hi if she was in the mall. I'd always ask to see her shoes. I never saw her wearing the same pair twice. I came to learn shoe collecting was on of her biggest hobbies, with over 70 pairs. I only sold her 2 in her collection a pair of gold and teal DCs and a pair of Neff Ponys. She did photography, worked 3 jobs, and just graduated high school. I think she wanted to go to school for healthcare? That's all I know about her. Our relationship was nothing more than idle chit chat in a mall skate shop. I'll miss her friendly smile.

Nike is the goddess of Victory in Ancient Greece. Walk the Elysian fields proud, Sydni.

What happened to Sydni? Hrmm... Well I hope you find a new amusing customer soon!
And yes. Diving into my sink is a HUGE liability. Hence the sign. Don't do it mister. Just don't.
