Yesterday sucked. A lot.
Barely slept. Came into work to find my new PC wouldn't boot. Then I get a scare that I don't wish on anyone.
khoos had her 16 week visit to the midwife. She shows up at my office with tears in her eyes and scared like I'd never seen her. During the exam, the midwife couldn't hear the baby's heartbeat or any movement. We both immediately got on the phone and called the local hospitals to get an appointment for an ultrasound, and the earliest we could get one was three hours later - the scheduler knew what an emergency this was and squeezed us in where she could. (Once again, Valley Hospital in Ridgewood comes through for me)
We get to the appointment and the wait seemed eternal - probably 15 minutes tops. When we finally get in, the ultrasound tech almost immediately finds the heartbeat and sees the baby wiggling away. The placenta is covering the cervix, which may have caused the midwife's machine to have difficulty. Needless to say, there were tears of relief. They tried to do a gender check, but just like T, the baby had it's legs crossed and the umbilical cord between it's legs. The baby did however give us a high five. What a wise ass.
At about 9 PM, I finally lost it. My brain let me get through the day, but the day ways done so the emotions finally caught up with me. Probably best I don't meet the midwife for a while. I'd probably throat punch her for freaking us out like that.

Maw. I just read your blog. I had no idea. I'm sooo relieved everything's ok with the baby and that it's as sassy as you two.

I feel for you, man. This pregnancy that Aibyo and I have been working through has been nothing but days just like that. Nonstop for 8 months. Man, it fuckin' wears you out having the potential for so much disaster starting to unfold itself each day, only to have it reel back up waiting for the next day to unfold all over again. Such is fatherhood and motherhood of a high risk pregnancy though. By not having a termination it's like clicking the "I Agree" button where the TOS says you're gonna be tortured each day and have to deal with it for the rest of your life. Not that it ain't worth it though obviously.
