a longer journal for you, now that I am more awake...
had a fantastic two days up in Newport with my great mates LadyInsane, SianyRiot and PervyPunk.
It was great to get away from london and all its trappings and go and see some of my fave people, who i unfortunately don't get to see as often as everyone else.
luckily we had awesome weather to go with my visit. so a very pleasent afternoons drinking in Caerleon by the river as just the start to a superb saturday night.
onto Newport, and the obligatory stop to a fookin weatherspoons (for cheap food!), then to the fantastic rock/biker hang out The Hornblower, where me and Pervy proceeded to get hammered while the gorgeous girlies topped on redbull!
i finally got to go to "the legendary" TJs, a venue I have wanted to go to for ages, for a 7 Seconds/5 Knuckle gig, which was thoroughly awesome. the bands were some fierce hardcore shit, and along with very cheap cans of bud, made me a very happy chappy indeed.
we also got to meet Kevin Seconds (kseconds), the singer with 7 Seconds.
back at the girls house, we ended the eve with cheese-and-veggie burger pitta breads, and a bit o'moshing in the front room...
Sunday was far more mellow, and after waving off a very hungover Pervy and his groovy van, we hung out in Caerleon in a couple of nice quiet village pubs, and a mildly amusing visit to the local roman fort...
I was sad to leave the girls behind...but the weekend was exactly what i needed to shake me out of a very dark rut that was looming up on me.

The thursday before this, i had a rematch with NOFX, at the Event in Brighton.
The Event is a horrible, poncy cheapo nightclub, so unprepared for a punk rock gig, it was hilarious.
But NOFX proved to me why they are one of the best live bands around, and played a complete blinder.
They even apologised for their london show, where they apparently "sucked" and "played their worst gig in two years"!
