The new profile picture is my friend Icarus. He's a 1 month old squirrel. My friend Fred's daughter saw it on the sidewalk. It had either fallen out of a nest, or been cast aside. He was under a week old, with his eyes still closed. No hair, nails, or a nose for a bit, Fred brought him into the lab and set up an area with a heating blanket and some pedialite. He's been nursing him back to health over the last month or so, and early last week he opened his eyes and saw for the first time.
Now i've always been a fan of squirrels, and always secretly wanted to pet one. Icarus has no problems with people. He'll fall asleep in your hand, and sniff your neck, and crawl around on you when you're not looking. Due to the situation, he's very comfortable in an office. It's very trippy and very cool at the same time.
I wonder, now, how Icarus is going to be able to transition back into the wild, now that he's beginning his emotional connections to people. Are squirrels pack oriented? Are they like wolfs, or more like penguins? or horney toads? Either way, i'll take two more please.

Why yes, in fact, I am his father. And there's no way you're bringing that thing in the house young man.

*in Sean Connery voice* Ooooh alright. It's a compromise I suppose.
