So for the most part I'm a pretty go with the flow kind of dude. I don't like to get caught up in the small things.
Tonight I went to my folks place for a barbecue. We got to talking about the family. To give you a short background on my family the last two years:
I had to bury both of my grandfathers last year, and It hurt deeply.
My great aunt also died last year. we were very close in spirit.
So as I'm replaying the sad events in my mind, I stop and think about my great uncle Bill.
Bill is one hell of a guy. He is a former Navy man turned truck driver. Grew up in Mascall Nebraska (population 45, no shit). He still has a house there.
So I'm thinking what Bill must feel like, in the last year and a half he has lost his wife and his brother. This started to make me feel very sad, very quickly.
Now for the most part, emotions govern my actions more than logic or reason, I know, but it's the artist in me. I'm not really making a point or anything, I'm just venting cause this text input box listens to me.
After the death of his wife, Gene, Bill moved to South Africa to work for the military and I'm sure to get away from the dwelling. He suffered a mild heart attack last week, and all of this compounded makes me feel the deepest empathy that I have ever felt in my life.
It is a very humbling state that I am in tonight. All my hugs and good wishes go out to you, uncle Bill, and I hope to see you soon.
