oooooh, Tom Waits! Yet another piece of the "were we separated at birth" puzzle. I was out last week with my girlz at this awesome little restaurant and they were playing his "Bone Machine" CD on the house system. Im very curious you seem to be a Cali Girl at heart and not only are you living on the fringe of the civilization world but your city of residence happens to be among the worst possible. Although Im told there are many positive aspects in buying a house in your city. Im sure theres an interesting story behind it.
In the 80s I lived in Hawaii for 5 years and ran many road races and bought a bike to begin training for Triathlons. Im an OK Runner pretty good on the Bike but a horrific swimmer so it became more of a Zen thing that anything else. I really need to get in some kind of shape its been far too long. 5 or 6 years ago I did get to the point I was running 8 to 12 miles a day with long runs of 18. Your journal has inspired me. Im weird in that I love to run when its cold and dark. Its like I have the world to myself
