I love my friends.
Who else would encourage me to go into mid-level debt when I have no prospect of a good-paying job just so I don't miss out on what will probably be my only chance to blush and stammer out "errr..." in front of the one, the only Mario?
Did I ever mention that I'm *brutally* shy?
(And as it turns out, the mid-level debt was a ploy. They just wanted to make sure that I really wanted to go. Because now they've ganged up on me and are insisting that they ship me money via Paypal as a birthday present. Jess and Jen are *my favorites* even if I haven't quite decided to let them do it.)
At least when I met Emeril I had a good excuse to say more to him than "Hello." I bought my sister one of his books and took her to a book signing for her birthday. The people in front of us asked him to personalize about 20 books for different people for Christmas (this was in late November) and he had to refuse them, because he'd been signing for about 4 hours and still had several hundred people in line. When we got to him, he smiled and said, "Some people, huh?" So my sister clammed up
I grabbed her arm and her book and pulled her up in front of him and said, "My sister doesn't want me to tell you this, but meeting you is her birthday present." So he asked what her name was and signed her book, "Denise, Happy Birthday! Bam, Emeril." She still talks about it. I think it's the best gift I've ever given her.
Anyway. I digress
I'm pretty sure I'm calling Lidia's for reservations tomorrow. Please, don't let them be full already
Update: The good news is, Lidia's still has 12 spaces open for the lunch dealie and 'extremely limited' seating for dinner. The bad news is, no one will go with me because it's 50 bucks a person for lunch--which, btw, includes tax, tip, and a signed $35 book. Dinner is also $50 but does not include the tax, tip, or book. Betcha it comes with wine though
Anyone around KC wanna go to lunch next wednesday? If I could afford to treat, I would, but if I could afford to treat, I'd take my sister again. Dammit, now I'm sad.

When living in Quebec, unless you live in Montreal, there is a 50/50 chance that any movie that comes out will be translated into French before hitting the theaters. I can't do the translated movies. The wrong voices and the mouth moving out of sync drives me crazy! So l guess l was saved!!!!
I've tried quitting so many times but the old saying just keeps coming back to haunt me "My mother didn't raise a quitter!"
