Yay! I've finally figured out what I want for my birthday!
This is a significant milestone. The question lurks. Every time I talk to my sister on the phone. The message my brother left on my cell phone a couple of days ago. Every encounter with my mother, it's the same thing. "So, did you figure out what you want for your birthday yet?"
No. No. The answer is *always* no.
I haven't answered that question with a response my family either understands or is willing to spend their hard-earned money on in so many years I've lost count. It's easier to just give the standard answer, "Oh, I don't need anything that I can think of, but if you really want to get me something, I always love Gift Cards from Barnes & Noble." The family has come to expect that answer. So have I. And to be honest, that really *is* my favorite thing. It's not just a gift certificate. It's also hours that I get to spend surrounded by some of my best friends ever, while I try to decide which one or two or three new books are worthy of becoming my birthday present
Imagine my shock when I woke up this morning with a FULL FLEDGED GIFT IDEA! I didn't have to agonize! I didn't have to ponder! It was just...there, as if it were a gift from heaven.
I want a flask. I'd like to be that girl who has her trusty flask strapped to her thigh when everyone wishes they at least had a drink to get them through whatever thing is going on, and meanwhile I'm sneakily having private moments with my flask. It's PERFECT!
I'm sure I'll really like my B&N gift certificates.
Update: I found it!! The perfect girly flask for me. Except for the part about strapping it unobtrusively to my thigh...perhaps I shall ask for two flasks...
although the longer I think about it, the more I realize the classic flask is the one I really want. The girly one is just...you know. Not stealthy and cool
And happy birthday to my dear friend Chris. Not that you'll ever read this, as nekkid girls are not your cup of tea
