So. I've been in Portland since January. I like the town. And I was lucky enough to get a job really soon after coming here, or so I thought. See, I took the job based on the promises my manager made when he hired me. What I would be getting paid, how much I'd be making in tips, how many hours a week I'd be working. It sounded great. But its been nothing but bullshit for the past three months that I've worked there.
I'm a sushi chef with 5yrs experience. I get $7.50 an hour at this place. I just talked to my homegirl who is working at an ice cream parlor and making $9 an hour. What the fuck kind of bullshit is that? Ice Cream?!! I fileted 60lb albacore tuna for two years at my old job and I'm getting paid $7.50 to cut motherfucking cucumbers?!! I'm over it.
Regardless of what happens at this place, or how much they shape up, I have to leave. I can't be submissive to an employer who's already wasted so much of my time.
Now here's the dilemma I'm faced with. I'm here in Portland, a great town, but I have to find a new job. I can look around here, and stay here in PDX, or I can go back to Cali, where I already have a job lined up that pays what I want. What am I going to do? once again, I'm asking your opinion.
Sac, or PDX?
