I'm a little frustrated. I started a thread that I thought might be fun. Let's write a rap. Now I hardly consider myself a poet but I can definitely find two words that ryhme. Ryhming is not only applicable to rap though, but to many other forms of music as well. Some of our greatest authors utilized poetry in their works;people like Edgar Allen Poe, Dr.Sues, and Shel Silverstein. I had hoped, with the introduction of this thread, I could offer an outlet to those who might appreciate it. But it seems as if the only people willing to contribute even the shortest line of verse do so with nothing but the purpose of expressing their aggression. If that's all rap is to these fools, then the benefits of a truly expressive genre of music are wasted on them. Maybe I made a mistake, although, I would love to see some more participation. So, if you're reading this, go be a poet, even a shitty one. Bukowski quit a good job at the post office at the age of fifty to write unashamed and drunk. Maybe you can do better.
