I just watched Forks Over Knives, a documentary I had avoided watching for a long time, even though I endorse a mostly plant-based diet. Simply because I thought it was going to show me even more confronting images of the brutality of the meat and dairy industries. But it doesn't!

This movie explores how closely linked our western diseases are to out dietary trendIt explores the links between diet and disease. Focusing on how heart disease, cancer and diabetes trends alongside modern diet habits, processed foods and animal protein. Along side with that, it shows evidence to support what I preach to people whenever I am asked to explain or even defend my own lunch box to people. When I eat more fruits, vegetables and grains, I feel better, I look better, I have more energy, I sleep better and I lose weight. Every time I have ditched my vegetarian ways (and I have several times), the reverse happens. I would recommend to anyone to watch this film. You can prevent and actually reverse all these illnesses simply by ditching meat and dairy and eating a vegan diet. 100% fact. Even if you were just a bad cunt vegan like me and only had a piece of meat once a week instead of 20 times a week you would see a dramatic difference, same as I did when I came to England last year and changed my diet. I lost 2 inches off my waist in 3 weeks, with a crazy demolition job on top, 3 inches off my waist in 8 weeks, then 4 inches after 4 months! I have never felt healthier. I still haven't lost my desire for burger sauce, but I am doing my best to ignore it right now. Fucking shit

Protein is important, it's true, but you only need 5%! Anything more can be harmful. 20% has been proven to cause cancer in rats and people eat far more than that! It's madness! The USA alone feeds livestock enough grains to feed 8.7 billion humans. Think about that for a minute!

I am not preaching to everyone to be vegan or anything like that. Although many meat lovers are so insecure that they would accuse me of propaganda, they don't like their views being challenged! I tell one of my peers, not a friend, how things like this confirm what I already heard from somewhere else, and the slimy bastard accuses me of confirmation bias. But he won't watch the film, saying it is quackery. Who is really biased? But I think even if people ate half of the meat that they do now, it would make a world of difference! People are too afraid to try :D

I think you should watch the movie anyway, before coming to conclusions about it. It's not just about how you look on the outside. I certainly agree that exercise is key to a healthy body, and I would not have lost 4 inches off my waist since going vegan 5-6 days a week, if it had not been for my job, I think. But even still, regardless of my activity level, my body does change any time I quit meat or go back. New science is slowly proving how meat and dairy attacks your heart, arteries and bones. How it gives you cancer and other diseases, including Alzheimer's, for example. I still have not managed to give it up completely. But I would no longer put it in a list of necessary or healthy foods.
