I went to see The Flaming Lips in Hamburg last night. Wow... wow... WOW!! 
Really. It was an amazing show. One of the girls with us didn't know them at all but she ranked it as one of the best shows she has ever been to. You should make it a life-goal to see these guys live. Sell your babies if you must.
And due to the small venue we only got to see the lite show. I can only imagine what they would be like in a stadium. They started the show like this...
They just kept throwing huge balloons (that's such a weird word when you type it) out into the audience while the music swept us away. The visuals projected behind them were amazing throughout the show and he had a mini fisheye-lens camera attached to his mic which added a whole othe level of surrealness to the gig.
Their shows are a melding of art and psychadelic rock music. Just amazing. Everyone was walking around with smiles permenantly tattooed on their faces. It was such an uplifting experience. I don't mean that in the annoying hippie way either, rather in a life-is-short,-grab-it-by-the-horns-and-enjoy-every-last-minute-of-it way.
Amazing gig. Go. Sell babies and organs, but defintely go!
