The past few weeks have been very interesting. I have been going through lots of changes in my life. The first of which is I am no longer working for my dad, he and I cannot see eye to eye on things and it has been very frustrating trying to deal with these things, and I am actually very relived it is over. As well I also got a new job for 50% more than what he was paying me. Things in that respect are looking very good.

Tuesday next week I head for texas to buy the land. My plan is moving forward at an ever swiftening pace. I have made a few changes along the way, I decided not to buy an rv, instead I am going to build a house attached to the shop that will be fairly basic, but it will be worth the while and I will be very comfortable, I think I will be moving about the end of november or so, depends on what the winter weather looks like, as soon as it turns bad im turning south.

I feel really blessed with this because all of my hard work over the years here has paid off, all of the times I didnt give up, all the times I refused to quit even though I was running against the odds. For the first time in a long time I am looking to the future with a sense of excitement and hope. I am also filled with a sense of personal pride, because I did this on my own. biggrin

How is everyone else doing?

congrats on getting things going as planned....always a nice thing to see hard work pay off!

sorry to hear what happened with your dad....its odd fighting with your parent. hopefully these changes can help ease things between the two of you, though.

so hopefully things move smoothly for you in the upcoming years, and all the hard work and sacrifices are shown as being worth it!

I'm surprised to even hear you say it. I was under the impression it was more of a ways to an end for ya... that being getting back to school. And it's been sounding like that plan is underway.

Heck, I only wish I could motivate myself to get back to college. Perhaps some day I'll find the drive and discipline necessary to turn in that direction. Don't have it now though, so I keep on doing this type of work and I'm more or less ok with that.

It's funny how I have constantly had that itch about getting my own truck again since returning to this company. But like I said I'm going to (try to) do it for a year before I make a change. They're good people to work for at least. Later if I decide to buy or lease something I'll need to decide who. Sorta thinking about Landstar. Or I could always get another straight truck and do expediting.
