Holy crap...
Grad school applications are due...in...6 days, still have a Christmas gift to finish crafting and get in the mail...tomorrow...and I'm way too pent up right now...
What am I doing? Blogging about it on SG, brilliant!
On the first matter, I'm SOOO close to being done, with all the stuff I need to do for my apps. Need to edit a video for my portfolio, make this light-box painting and document it, re-write my artist's statement (because its always fun to change the way you think about your work at a time like this), and then get everything packaged up for the (thankfully) online send-out. First one due is UI: Chicago, on the 15th...Then the 18th for two of them, then Jan 1 and Feb 15th...so I have some time on some of them, but I want to finish them up all at once (if possible). Maybe thats whats really stressing me out...I should probably tackle them one at a time, No?
On the Christmas gift front, I'm making a cameo for my Sweetie, well...its more a Birthday/"Shit I Fucked up this one Time I'm Sorry" gift...Still...I carved it out of a piece of solid walnut with some really beautiful grain. I need to do some sanding on it, get the coat of polyacrylic finish on there and then do a little bit of resin casting...and then sew the choker. I'll post pics after I get it finished. I don't want her to see 'em.
I'm very new here, so this feels a little odd, and its the first "porn" site I've subscribed to (a gift from my Sweetie), but Wit was right on that ADORABLE you tube vid of hers

Grad school stuff is going well, I'm actually STILL making pieces to document for my portfolio (crazy, I know), but now that the cameo for my Sweetheart is done, I can focus all my attentions on finishing up apps.
Speaking of the cameo...
Crappy image of it, but I'm VERY happy with how it turned out (and my Sweetie is too! <3) It was actually my first attempt at jewelry (of any sort), my first attempt at 2-part resin, my first attempt at carving with a Dremel, and my first time sewing velvet...

ALSO, congrats on getting into grad school yourself! Its a pretty exciting thing to be moving into that new part of your life (saying "I'm in Grad School" sounds so much cooler than "I'm in College"). What are you studying?
