I have to guesses.
1) It's likely that the artist that came up with the logo hadn't done it before and wanted to really give their first try at such a thing a lot of artistic flare... to make it unique... and some how, exclusive to their style...
2) It's also possible that they're trying to distract you from how much they suck.
