Well, in my last blog I had mentioned everything going on at work. They offered me 2 options, either take a settlement and leave now or go on a very extreme improvement plan. They never saw the numbers for the improvement plan until yesterday afternoon when I was in a meeting with an ops manager and my team manager. After that I had a meeting with HR to find out what kind of settlement they were offering, which I ended up negotiating for a higher amount. I then talked to my team manager and we discussed my option. We both felt the improvement plan was unrealistic so I decided to take the payout. I also decided to just work a half day today to clean up my stuff and say my goodbyes. I ended up getting a lot of hugs and handshakes from people and I've been feeling pretty good about everything for a couple reasons. First, I found out today that they gave this choice to at least 3 other people, all managers, all tenured and like myself all not really fitting in with the little clicks in the management teams. Second, I talked it out with my girlfriend and I've decided to look into going back to school. I'm going to take a little time for myself right now, but I'm going to be looking around at my options. So in the end, fuck them, I'm going to be fine. Sadly this does put a bit of a stall on the first episode of "20 Minutes With Moffat", but just a stall, it will still be done. I've even got 3 or 4 guests lined up already.
