Again, thanks for all the well wishes. Being born on Cinco de Mayo is an interesting thing. Corona is usually on sale. My aunt remembers my birthday a lot easier than others. Being told it's not a real holiday is interesting. To that I say Ha! This goes back to the civil war. Government says to observe it, so why not.
Today was interesting for me. I had my last tv studio production class. Now, I produced (starred) my segment last week. So this week, all I have to do is direct. I got audio out of the way last week. Audio Directing is to me, torture. I'm not incompetent, but I don't have the ear for it. Levels, timing, hearing the commands, not my specialty. So the first thing I'm assigned to do is AD, assistant director, all I have to do is watch the clock and give warning. Or so until two minutes in. I get put into audio. It's probably not my best idea, but when the professor asks why I sound annoyed, it's because I hate audio. Maybe not my best idea.
When I did get to directing, it wasn't smooth. Rehearsing wasn't exactly great on my end. Probably should have had the crew run one more intro/outro instead of resting up for two minutes. It was going well. Not perfect, of the total eight questions, the talent managed to get four out. Four questions in seven 1/2 minutes. The last question ran late enough that we skipped ALOT of steps to go straight to Fade Sound And Picture Out. I must have done something right because I got a B.
Also, finally got around watching John Carpenter's The Thing....
Holy Shit this movie is scary. Ennio Morricone did the score, which is odd, but it was awesome. I think this movie is part of the foundation for almost every horror genre anything. Anyone gets the chance, watch it.
