From what I understand the the Japanese in like 300 - 600 AD used tattoos as a form of punishment to identify criminals by tattoo very large motos along the lines of "I shoplift" in very visible locations. The Romans later copied this idea.

But yeah ...

I seriously hope that maybe, just maybe, punishment is the reason that guy got them. Probably not.

A long time a go I had this french girlfriend that would cook rice in a skillet. She would say "this is the french way to cook the rice."
