I've been working again, more than full-time, for a full week now.
Wow is it different.
I didn't quite realize how thoroughly unemployment had wormed its way into my psyche. Unemployment allows a host of freedoms that I've come to take for granted - freedoms now disintegrated by a regular work schedule, a long to-do list, keeping retail hours.
Now that I've soldiered through the initial shock (like diving into the proverbial cold pool), I'm loving it. I've always been entrepreneurial. Running my first retail business - the others have all been professional services - is challenging and stimulating and fun.
But this morning I could have used another couple hours of sleep and a leisurely breakfast.
Change is hard.
