Hmmm an update...what to update.
Well my middle child has graduated HS and is sweating her ass off in TX right now in basic training. She joined the Air Guard back in December and will apply for active Guard when she gets back.
My youngest, also a girl, is enjoying being the only kid now and in two years I will be kissing her and putting her on a plane for the Army. She wants to be a helicopter pilot.
Arcticminx got layed off from work...fuckin Army spent all their money and so they literally don't have the funds to pay for any contracts here. Over 70% of the work force on our post lost their jobs. So we may be living in a tent before long.
The really bad part was that she has worked there almost 5 years...she was two months from being vested in her union retirement. Now she has to wait for another job to come along and that ain't going to happen soon.
In a town of a thousand people where the Army base is what supports everyone it is near impossible to get another job.
I guess all I can say is that I hope someone in the FPS is reading this and listening and will offer me the job that I applied for in Portland, OR.
We would be outta here so fast...
The weather is fantastic, it is a little cool for June (40's) but it is keeping the fires down for now. I have a feeling that the hot stuff comes later and we will be back in the smoke. It might make it more tolerable if a forest fire caught someone's weed patch on fire and that smoke drifted out over the valley.
Well not much else to say except I hope everyone elses summer is going good and you are enjoying some time off.
