So, Matt Cantelli was kind enough to loan me the first season of 24 on DVD, therefore my next statement will seem completely obvious. Since Saturday I've watched 9 episodes of 24, 10 if you count the one I watch on television from season 6. Every one I watch amazes me more than the one before, I am pretty much completely entranced by season 1, this is strange for me. I've never been completely engaged by a television show before. Up until this point [and "this point" is the point where I had to start watching 24 for my English 414 class] I was a fairly regular veiwer of music documentaries, and I enjoyed sharkweek.
I've watched every episode of the sixth season, except the first four hours - which is lame 101, but I believe my 414 teacher has it taped in the library so at some point I'll probably be going to do that, yes, I'm going to go and sit in the library and watch four hours of 24, and it's going to be a very good expenditure of my time. Though it is still completely apparent to me what is going on, bomb drops, LA panics, Jack kills a lot of people, Chloe freaks out a lot, President Palmer is diplomantic and crazy attractive, yeah I understand it completely. [Funny thing is, I really do, I write papers about the cinematography and split screens, the use of the clock as a suspense device etc. etc. etc. and gender realtions - I like writing about how Jack is Mr. America.] I imagine however, that those four hours dealt with some extraction of Jack from the Chinese prison [which I'm not totally clear on how it happened, though I hear season five provides some insight - but I think he has a beard one he gets back to the states and I think that could be interesting *cough* kind of hot.]
I think because of that whole one day deal, 24 is a little different to most tv shows. Hence it's pretty essentail to keep up, I don't know what happens to people if they miss an episode of 24, but I suspect they might get their fingers chopped off. Not that I personally have any desire for Jack Bauer to threaten to chop off my fingers...hehe. Speaking of which, or not of which, so...uh, making implications of which one of the girls in my 414 class, Tina, who is incedentally in my modern poetry class and I were talking and I tentatively mentioned the "burgeoning" crush on Jack Bauer [this isn't weird, hi, Colva, and ps. most guys I know who watch 24 would willingly volenteer to "take it" from Mr. Bauer.] anyway, she and I both agree that watching Jack be a badass and commit various acts of incredible violence, kind of makes you melt after awhile.
Wow, I wrote a really silly entry...this might be because I have to write a lot of serious stuff about 24. So, I guess my personal journal can involve long sentences that don't make sentences and weird innuendo about Jack Bauer. Whatever.
