There is a new group that I think might just be one of the coolest I've seen on SG, and I'm not saying this because of the huge endorsement deal I got from Geraldine. I am honestly speaking from the bottom of my bottle of gin. You see I was given the secret password to The Speakeasy and now whenever I need a fix of 1920s era nostalga I just head over there. If you love flappers, silent films, early automobiles, art deco, and drinking and dancing in smoke filled rooms until the wee hours of the morning, you too should join us.

Sunday August 08

Just got back from seeing another Interpol / Cure show. This time near Boston. Got there early enough to catch all the opening bands and most were very good. I do have to say that I was rather disappointed with Melissa Auf Der Maur. Not only were her songs awful, she should stick to doing back up harmonies. She added a lot to Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins, but her solo stuff is basically crap. The Rapture were good. I'll have to DL more tracks of theirs and go see them again. Mogwai, sonically incredible, as usual. Interpol did the same set as the NYC show I saw last weekend. I was ok with that since it was most of my favorite songs anyway. I would have just like them to be able to play a longer set. The Cure were brilliant again. Same basic set but a few track changes and different encores. The lighting is fantastic. If you are going to be seeing this show later on in the tour you are in for a real treat.

Good to see Pip at the show, meet his sister, and to hang out with plaingurl, again, who I have to thank for hooking me up with the ticket in. Too kind, really.
