minimalism

Today seemed like it was going to start off badly and go down hill quick, but it turned around and got better just as fast.

I woke up at 4:00am and couldn't fall back asleep. I don't know about you, but I find this to be very annoying. And just before 5:30 when my alarm is set for I started to doze off.

Got out of bed to take a shower and all I had was cold water. I figured I could go the day without showering since I took one yesterday and didn't do much besides shopping, but tonight's the SGNY Holiday Party and I have 5 guests staying, so I'd need it fixed before they got here. Can't have company coming and a house with no heat. It just won't do. Called the folks at the oil heat company and he said to press the reset button on the burner. That worked.

Got a quick shower and headed into work. On the railroad you need both an engineer and a conductor to make a crew to get anything done. Well, today the had no engineer for me. They asked me to stick around til they could see if one was available. Since I hadn't slept all that much last night I said sure and took a two hour nap. They woke me up and told me I was ok to go home. Now I don't know about your job, but at mine I still get paid for the whole day. 8 hours pay for sleeping for two hours. Can you beat that?

So tonight's the big SGNY Party and I'm really looking forward to it. There's going to be a whole crew of new faces. I can't wait to meet everyone. It's going to be one of our biggest parties by far and I'm sure one of our best.
