This birthday week was the hardest one yet. It should be criminal for someone to have to work that hard and stress that much through their birthday. In the end, it wasn't ALL too bad. I got a new lens for my camera, a new camera bag and a new pair of Maui Jims; hope they last longer then the Ray Bans did.

I keep...

Its supposed to be grand! Can't wait to see if it really is or not. Hopefully there wont be any interference from the weather. Everything is slated for clear skies here, but you just never know. my luck hasn't been great with watching these events.

Found out today there may actually be a way for a regular Joe like me to get off this rock. It's coming next year. They're planning a lottery for a one way mission to Mars... and I can't stop thinking about it. How amazing would that be? Its probably the most excited I've felt in 20 years, just thinking of the possibilities (even if if...

I got in touch with a new Aikido instructor today who actually teaches in the suburban area where i live. I'm going to formally meet him and watch his instruction techniques tomorrow night. If this works out it could be great as it would keep me from having to drive 60 miles (round trip) three times a week to go to my current Dojo. Crossing...

Today, I went to a funeral of a cousin who, until last year, I never even knew existed. Oddly, we lived in the same town together just a few miles apart. I've since learned that I actually met him once when he worked at a local bakery but (at the time) had no idea who he was. Turns out this cousin and i had a...

We had a storm blow through town today. It came in really fast and unexpectedly and was anything but kind as it passed through. It wasn't a disaster type storm, but it was definitely one of those storms that let you know it was there for the short time it was. We were driving down the road and emergency vehicles were going in all directions....

sad day, indeed. even sadder it's being used politically. the discussion on gun laws has been boiling under the surface for years now, so it makes sense there'd be a tipping point, but i hope to see the memories of the aurora victims honored by a new conversation on how we can improve our mental hygiene programs and not only stop more of these guys before they graduate to violent acts, but improve the lives of millions who are battling various mental illnesses.

64. Out of 64 most recent blogs only one person actually had anything 'readily visible' regarding the shootings last night in Aurora, CO. Not sure how to feel about that, but my initial gut feeling is disgusted and repulsed. Hey, I get it.. people don't like to deal with death and tragedy and horrible shit like that when there is gleeful fairies, and pixie titties...

I hate funerals. There's just no getting through them without feeling like crap. On a good note... I decided I want my ashes carried up in a hot-air balloon and dispersed from a sub-orbital position; since I can't have them dispersed across mars.

Even after so many years of living, life can just be so cyclical. There are some ruts that you can get out of and some ruts that just seem to keep dragging you back in. Sometimes, life is like a curling up and climbing inside a giant tire and then rolling down a hill; its fast and furious, spinning wildly out of control while you...

What year did you go?
The problem this year was quite opposite. The weather was awful, cold and rainy for the first two days and then on the third day the skies opened and finally we got some sunshine...

Have you read any of The Dark Towers eries by Steven King. He has a lot of interesting things to say about life and cycles.

We had a rain storm come through today. It was unexpected and fierce.... blew down some trees, fences and my bar-b-que grill out into the middle of the yard. Still, I couldn't help but enjoy it. I love the smell of summer rains; it carries a deep, heavy, earthy smell to is that the winter rains simply don't have. Definitely a sexy and exciting smell.
