Grrr.I have been so sick! I feel like garbage.
I am going to miss school today which is very uncool. I feel so foggy and delirious I dont even know why I am writing this because anything I write is probably going to sound all muddled and not make sense anyway.
I was sad that Christopher Reeve died Sunday from some crappy bedsore. I know how badly he wanted to walk again and how determined he was. What a sad way to go out
. Im wondering what is going to happen to his paralysis foundation. As long as he was there keeping it on track and had a personal interest in a cure or a treatment, it seemed like a good thing to send money to. I have donated to them on occasion, because I feel the money really goes to the right places. Now it could fall victim to greed like so many other charitable groups I have seen paying their head officials a ridiculous salary and squandering the donations on things that are not going towards a cure for anything.
If there arent a million other great reasons to vote for John Kerry, a big one close to home for me is his stance on stem cell research, which I think is really going to be the only hope for paralysis victims. I have a friend whos mom was paralyzed several years ago. She is like my second mom and an amazingly cool lady. I wish they would stop using some stupid misdirected religious beliefs to block such important study. Through force of will and sheer determination, after 8 years paralyzed she has managed to regain enough motion in her right hand to wiggle it and every so often really get it to jump. I think with the addition of stem cells this rebuilding process could be sped up so she could possibly eventually have real motion back, or at least more bodily control. I'd like to see them at least be allowed to try.
I hope to all hopes that Kerry does get elected and things get set in place to allow this to happen, I am sad for Christopher Reeve that he never reached his goal of beating paralysis and never walked again.
Rodney Dangerfield died a couple weeks ago too, that also made me sad. He was pretty cool.
RIP Chris and Rodney.
