Tell us about someone in your life that you respect.... Blog Homework :)

Hey all!,

How about this one for our blog homework! what an amazing question.

So someone in my life that I respect....gosh there are so so many, a lot of people have made me who I am today.

I guess I am going to go with my Mother, now I know that this is probably the thing you were all expecting me to say but I do have my reasons as to why she is someone who I respect and not because she is just my mother but of who she is inside. Now besides the fact that she was a hardcore punk queen when she was a teen and in her 20's although she gave up her punk life when she had me because she worried what people may think and was under some idea that she was now unable to dress like this (believe me I have told her off for this) she also influenced me greatly and has made me the person I am today (she also influenced my awesome taste in music ;) ).

Now firstly lets go back a bit to the start, as i remember stories when I was younger about how she was too poor to feed us (myself and my brother) so she would drink Tea just so myself and my brother had something to eat, we were also brought up in a council estate and if your from the UK like myself then you will know just how bad they are. Just for you Non UK peeps lemme break down a usual council estate:

Low income citizens are housed in council estates and therefore there is a lot of riff raff so fights, police, ambulances, fire crew are a very regular occurrence and even drug abusers and dealers are common even to the point where they sit in the estate play areas whilst kids are around they'll be shooting up or smoking something. Everyone knows everyone's business which is sometimes a good thing if support is needed but it also casts this horrible cloud over your family as you worry about what people thing of you etc etc. Now I remember playing outside with my friends and seeing SWAT teams constantly knocking in peoples doors and arresting people so its safe to say I was in quite a bad area as a child growing up.

Now my mum was a saint she never did anything bad in life, she was even made homeless at one stage with my brothers father!, my brothers father left her while she was pregnant with him and she had not long been with my father when she was then pregnant with me (I was a mistake child haha always wear protection! lol) she always helped our neighbours with anything they needed even though we were poor ourselves, she would always say to me "help others because you never know when you may need help one day and it is good to have a kind heart in this world as we are so rare." I agree with this statement and I think this is why I am a good hearted person, I will always help anyone who needs help and so I thank her for this advice as it is something I carry on every day. Now a few years ago she broke her hip and ended up in hospital to have pins put in to fuse her bone and since then she has been suffering from Depression and body dysmorphia, it has broken my heart to see my mother deteriorate like this as she has become a very weak soul compared to her strong wilfulness and determination she now has none. I have spoken to her a few times and even mentioned things from her past and how proud I am to be her daughter as she means the world to me and I am so so proud of her of what she has done in life.

She is very slowly seeing things differently but it is going to be a very tough road but through it all she has stayed good hearted and is still helping people whenever they need it and this is why I respect her so much as usually this sort of ordeal would have the someone become a very different and negative person, I know now where I have got my lack of self worth from and it is from her and by no means do I mean this in a negative way but I mean it as in we care for others before we care for ourselves, but now is the time where she needs to look after herself and I need to do this too!.

So I have a tremendous respect for my Mother as she has been through so so much in life even more than I have stated in this post but sometimes its best to keep things quiet haha.

I love my Mum :)

thank you @rambo and @missy hope you enjoy this bit of blog homework goodness :)

Have a nice day everyone xoxo

I didn’t quite grow up in a council estate but being 1 of 7 kids my parents had there wasn’t much to go around. Growing up with nothing makes you appreciate everything you have as you get older. Your mum sounds awesome and she can be proud of the person she’s raised you to be :-)

@lwst completely agree I think that's what's wrong with children who are spoilt because they do grow up less appreciative of things and become quite demanding. Aww thank you, I do hope I have made her proud xx
