As for things to do, depends on how long your up and if you have any other plans. The open top bus is worth a shot as it will give you an idea of whats about and you can hop on and off as you desire. Theres plenty of brewery tours etc around town if that takes your fancy. Loch Lomand is close by if you want to get into the countryside and Edinburgh is only 50 mins away by train and theres loads to do there as well like the castle or underground ghost tours.
