The in-laws came by for their semi-annual visit this morning. I'd like to say I wasn't sweating it, but these are the typical "no man is good enough for our little girl" type of 'rents. It didn't help that this was their first visit to our recently purchased love shack and my normally easy going girl was wound tighter than a shiny new alarm clock.
Personally, I know she's out of my league, they know she's out of my league, strangers in the mall know she's out of my league, and it seems the only one who doesn't know it is her. So it was with a tad bit of trepidation that I faced the days events. Even more unsettling was watching my suddenly insane girl go bopping around making sure everything was "just so".
Fortunately, things went off pretty smoothly. We gave the tour around the house, explained what our grand plans were for each room and even got the stuffy old folks laughing at some of my jokes. I still doubt that they would prefer me to some engineer making six figures, but I think I went a long way to winning them over.
In any case, my particular stress is over. I can go back to my regularly scheduled life and enjoy lazy days filled with snuggling, sex, and power saws. At least until my mom comes to visit.

And the story I'm sticking with is that I know all of your tricks so well that I do the opposite to make them even trickier... just so I can feel better about myself...
