Ok... so I went to my girl's parents house for New Years. It was fine and all. I mean... we just sat around, watched tv, talked a bit, played some 4 player Mario Kart on their 62 inch TV (which made me sad when I came back to my puny 32), and drank some margaritas. Problem was that they invited me to spend the night (thinking I had drank too much) and I just couldn't.
They went back to their room and slept and I tossed and turned in my girl's bed for about an hour before I got up, apologized, and left. I told her that it goes against my culture and that I really just felt like I was disrespecting her parents if I stayed there. She said there wouldn't be any issues if I stayed since they invited me to spend the night and since nothing... ummm... you know... would be going on. I just didn't feel right doing that though. I mean... if her and I were more than that (like engaged or married) then I guess it would be ok. But since we weren't, I just didn't think it was right.
She didn't understand and neither has anyone else I've tried to explain this to. What do you guys think?

I think that is a very respectful way to be!! I had a guy do that once...he stayed in the guest room because he felt so bad!! I think it shows a lot of maturity, and a lot of respect for both your girl and for her parents!!! You get an A+ on that one from me!

It doesnt bother me to stay at a girlfriends house if her parents are there. Especially if they give me permission.
