"how did it ever get so far? sail away with me honey...what will be will be, i wanna hold you now, now, now..."
ja, i know it's david gray, but i was listening to it when i started writing here. don't mistake my mood, i'm not lonesome...i'm just wondering, how did i get where i am right now? i mean, i know how i have passed the most recent steps of life, but geez, tracing a little further back, you really have to wonder sometimes, and then marvel at how fragile are the links that compose your golden chain of life...and so true is the saying, that "we are only as strong as the weakest link"...thus it is that one event or occasion can send us careening off into a vast wilderness of unknown and unanticipated territory, or one scar can alter one's threshhold for pain for the rest of one's life...it can colour our vision, steal our appetities, and boil away our dreams leaving behind only a hard stone of reality...
but i am different...i think what makes me different is the reality of my dreams. when you reach a certain point inside of yourself, you learn to smile while you're dying, to thank God for everything, even the bullshit. and people, ALL people, become just so damned beautiful. i started marveling at everything one day...why the boughs twist as they do, how wonderful every colour is, and even the fact that i, just a blob of mass, have been composed in so intricate a fashion that i can detect and admire the presence of other blobs of mass in this universe. it makes me sad to know that someday, it will no longer be mine to cherish. i will no longer be capable of the same pleasure i derive right now, even at this moment tapping the keys on my keyboard, from life...touch, sight, taste, smell, and hearing will all be a part of the past...
but i ain't dead yet. so sit down, and let's have a merry conversation, my friends, la vita bella!
